Welcome to
Health and Music

Whether you signed up for The Fitness Choir, SingYourMoment or Drum & Bond, you are in for an uplifting experience and we wholeheartedly welcome you! The purpose of this simple welcome pack is to assist with your preparation by sharing a couple of helpful points. At i60 Community Interest Company, our goal is to ensure that each session and programme you attend under the "Health and Music" project becomes a memorable encounter and empowering experience.

Getting Started

The most important item to bring for this iconic empowering journey is a refreshed you! The candid truth is that a tired body would struggle to enjoy these sessions. Having enough restful sleep always serves as the perfect recipe to get the best out of our Health and Music sessions.

02

Punctuality

The best time to arrive is 5 minutes to the commencement session. This allows you 300 seconds to meet other participants and get settled in. Furthermore, sessions for The Fitness Choir will be concluding at 11:55 am to make way for either SingYourMoment or Drum & Bond (alternated each week) which starts at 12 noon. You are allowed to participate in all and any of the 3 programmes, provided you have registered.

Keep It Flowing

Staying hydrated is very integral towards maintaining a healthy lifestyle. It becomes even more important whenever you are exercising. Therefore, we implore you to bring your bottle of water with you.

Dress Code

The most active of all the programmes would most likely be The Fitness Choir. Therefore, we suggest that you wear something that is gym-appropriate, comfortable for you to move/exercise in whilst maintaining modesty. For SingYourMoment and Drum & Bond, we encourage you to dress comfortably and come as you are. "Drum & Bond" features historical drums and percussive instruments from Africa. Thus, if you have an African-themed clothing or accessory you'd like to wear, or probably a souvenir you have from your visit to Africa, please feel free to bring them along. Please bear in mind that this is not mandatory or a requirement.

What else should I bring?

  1. For The Fitness Choir, bringing an exercise mat may not be necessary. However, feel free to bring one if you want to.

  2. Do you have a portable handy acoustic instrument that you like to play at home? For The Fitness Choir, you would be allowed to bring such an instrument provided that it does not hinder your movement/exercise or obstruct others. For SingYourMoment, we happily encourage you to bring your instrument. However, this is not mandatory or required. With "Drum & Bond" being a rich cultural programme, we will provide all the drums and percussion needed at each session.

  3. Singing will be an integral part of all the programmes under the "Health and Music" project. We will be learning new songs that are simple to sing and very easy to learn. Moreover, at SingYourMoment, there will be new compositions that you would easily come up with, despite not having any singing or musical experience! Therefore, we encourage you to bring an audio recorder. Many (if not all) smartphones come with a Sound Recorder pre-installed. Therefore, you are allowed to specifically use the audio-recording component of your smartphone to record the songs we learn and sing.
